Welcome to REC2026

Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to inform you that REC2026 will be at TU Dortmund University, Dortmund, Germany after successful passages in Savannah, Singapore, Brno, Chicago, Bochum, Liverpool, Taormina and Beijing. With the greatest excitement, we invite you to participate in REC2026 and share your latest research with our community.

The theme of the 11th International Workshop on Reliable Engineering Computing (REC2026) is “Reliability Computations in a data and model-driven world”. Engineers and scientists from academic, industrial and governmental institutions are invited to contribute and to join in discussions on recent developments and future challenges in the field. To facilitate these discussions, REC2026 will provide a multi-disciplinary forum which brings together various engineering and associated disciplines with the common focus on methodologies and theories in the field of risk and uncertainty.

As in the previous biennial REC-meetings, the central theme of the discussions will be the reliability of engineering computations. Covering a broad range of topics, REC2026 aims to address innovative theories and advanced computational approaches to ensure safety of engineering systems starting with uncertainty quantification of input parameters. Special focus this year is placed on the central question on how to optimally integrate data and engineering models, while still ensuring reliability of our calculations.

Previous REC-meetings have been hosted at Georgia Tech Savannah (United States) in 2004, 2006, and 2008, at the National University of Singapore in 2010, at Brno University of Technology in Brno (Czech Republic) in 2012, at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago (United States) in 2014, at Ruhr University Bochum (Germany) in 2016, at University of Liverpool (United Kingdom) in 2018, at Taormina (Italy, held online) in 2021, and at Beijing University (China) in 2024 organized by Tsinghua University.

In 2026, REC returns to Germany – this time in the heart of the “Ruhr Pott”, in Dortmund, the country's “football capital”. We look forward to welcoming you for four days of in-depth scientific discussions, complemented by a good mix of cultural and social exchanges.
